Frequently Asked Questions
What type of toothbrush and toothpaste should I use?
It’s important to use toothbrushes with soft bristles; medium to firm bristles can damage teeth and gums. Brush twice a day for 2 minutes each time. Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months. For toothpaste, choose one with the ADA (American Dental Association) Seal of Acceptance. These options always have fluoride which will strengthen and protect your teeth.
How often do I need to floss?
You need to floss daily! Food and plaque will build up between your teeth and on your gumline. If the plaque hardens, it turns into tarter which over time will cause tooth decay. Waxed or unwaxed floss will do the job, and so will floss picks!
How do I care for a toothache?
Toothaches can cause a lot of pain! To ease the pain, you want to clean the tooth and gums in that area. Do this by rinsing your mouth with warm water then brushing and gently flossing to remove any food caught in between your teeth. If the pain persists, contact us so we can advise.
What are signs of dental trouble?
If you have any of the following troubles, please contact our office – mouth sores, jaw pain, tooth sensitivity, broken teeth, bleeding gums or consistent bad breath.
